Corvus Cosmetics:Major Arcana-Part 1 of 4

Corvus Cosmetics has a newer collection inspired by the major arcana suit of tarot cards. This is a fairly large collection that consists of 22 shades SO I have decided to break this up a little bit.

Full Disclosure: This sample set was sent to me for promo and review purposes. This, however, doesn't change my opinion, and all reviews are honest.

For this first set of swatches/review I have picked out the blues, purples, and greens.

L to R: The High Priestess, The World, The Star, The Moon, and The Hierophant

 The World

A bright blue with green shift

*Vegan, NOT lip safe

This is a beautiful bright blue shadow. I like this kind of blue for pops of color and as a fun liner. BUT I am also not shy with wearing it over the lid. It is a beautiful shade.
The Star

A deep teal with a strong gold shift

*Vegan, NOT lip safe

This is a unique color for my collection. The gold shift is very strong and beautiful! Definitely one of my favorites from the collection.

The Moon

A dark gray-blue with a silver sheen

*Vegan, NOT lip safe

This is another one of my favorites from the collection. I wore this a lot when I first got this because it matches my colored hair really well. The description is spot on for this one and highly recommend picking it up.
The Hierophant

A deep emerald green

*Vegan, NOT lip safe

This is such a deep color. I typically am not drawn to colors like this but have used this a few times already.
The High Priestess

A bright blurple with a strong pink shift

*NOT lip safe

I LOVE LOVE LOVE this one. I am a sucker for purples and this is no exception. This one was hard to capture in photos because the sparkle prevented the camera from focusing! Perfect for spring.

I absolutely love the colors. The Star and The Moon are fantastic shades and if I had to chose standouts, it would be those. I am wearing them in the photo below, with The Star being the main beauty all over the lid. Be sure to check out my IG for detailed posts AND more looks using the collection.

Etsy Update: Spring is here but more importantly Mother's Day is coming up! I have a ton of options including some jewelry dishes! Check out my Etsy and Facebook. I am posting pictures of a few examples of what I have available!

Notoriously Morbid Vanishing Cabinet- February 2016: Stronger Than Death

"I have crossed oceans of time to find you." - Dracula

This is SUPER late and I will have a few other posts like this one. Basically, I have a ton of swatch photos and product photos that I don't want to go to waste. Even though quite a bit of this is LE, I enjoy rediscovering what I have in my collection. It usually leads to me digging some of it out and using it.

February's Notoriously Morbid Vanishing Cabinet theme was Stronger than Death which is a theme dedicated to the 1992 film adaptation of Bram Stoker's Dracula. You know, the cool one with Gary Oldman! For me, this a perfect theme for the month because it is quite an amazing love story.

This month we got two shadows, a highlight, and a sample size of a diablo lip rouge.

L to R: My Beloved, See Me Now, and Love What You Love

 See Me Now

Smokey purple with a light purple-pink shimmer.

*NOT lip safe

You can NEVER have too many colors like this one.  This a good throw on and go color. It blends really well and would make a great one shadow look.

Love What You Love

Jewel-toned green with a sheen.

*NOT lip safe

This shadow is really pretty and have worn it all over my lid. The only downside, I don't find it to be incredibly unique from other greens that I have.

My Beloved

Strong highlight with a pink sheen.

*NOT lip safe

This leaves a BEAUTIFUL sheen on the cheek. It is a great formula and doesn't have specks of glitter in it. I have larger pores on my cheeks so tend to stay away from highlights that have large glittery bits, so was happy this one did not have this.

Kiss Me

Deep wine vampy red

I LOVE this color and it looks really good with my skin tone. I honestly see this working for a lot of skin tones. This is supposed to be released into the permanent line at some point, if I recall correctly. So no worries if you missed out on this.

Overall I am really happy with this month's theme and products. Currently I am getting the most use out of the highlight. I think I need to grab some of the diablo lip rouges because I really like the formula.

Normally I post photos of me wearing the products but apparently I cannot locate these photos. I also have a new camera and those photos were not taken with it. I may update this with something because I hate not posting one!!

Etsy Update: I have an Etsy shop and I have been busy getting it up and running again.

Brij'Adore - Brija Cosmetics First Box in the New Quarterly Subscription

“Curiouser and curiouser!”

It is here! Brija released the first box in the new quarterly subscription, Brij'Adore. The first theme is Alice in Wonderland which is perfect for the spring season, though will say it is still freezing here on the east coast. In addition, Tim Burton's Alice Through the Looking Glass is coming out this year. Should also mention that this is March's box...get it...like the March Hare..though not sure if Brianna planned it like this BUT still really cool.

All the products in this box are LIMITED EDITION however there is a small overstock of certain items available in the shop. Everything is vegan, gluten, soy, and dye free. This month came with four shadows, a blush, and a lipstick. All items are full size.

Go ahead and take a moment to look at those cute labels!! I should note that this box DID come with a sample of a tumeric face primer that should be making it into the shop next month. I won't comment on this as I plan to do a full post on it.

L to R: Flower Crowns, We're All Mad Here, Down the Rabbit Hole, Tea Party, and Golden Afternoon

 Flower Crowns Blush

Matte medium mauve with purple and brown undertones.

*Lip safe. Eye safe.

I LOVE this color on my cheeks. Anything with a purple undertone generally look great on my pale skin. I have used this on my eyes and it makes a great shadow as well.

We're All Mad Here

Magenta with a blue sheen

*NOT lip safe

You can never go wrong with a magenta ESPECIALLY when it has a blue sheen. I have a few colors similar to this one but they are not exact matches. However, the other ones I have are definitely not gluten, soy, or dye free so it's a great color for individuals looking for cleaner cosmetics.

Down the Rabbit Hole

Light baby blue

*Not lip safe.

To be honest, I LOVE color. This one intimidating me just a little at first, but it is the most unique color to me in the set. I used it over my lid and fell in love with it. It would be a great color to tone down pairing it with a brown.

Tea Party

Bright hot pink

*Not lip safe.

It is pink. I love pink...there really isn't much more to say. I adore this color and will get a ton of use out of it.

The Golden Afternoon

Warm gold with orange

*Lip safe.

Love, love, love. The name is perfect. My father loved to garden and the singing flowers were his favorite part of the Disney cartoon movie. This one is extra special for me because it reminds me of him. :)

Card Guard Organic Lipstick

A warm brown red neutral

It is really hard for my to find neutral colors for my lips. There is something about the natural pigmentation of that that turns a lot of nude like colors into crap. This however looks amazing.

*In future posts a lip swatch will be provided instead of an arm swatch.

To put this all simply I absolutely LOVE this color theme. I do think the colors may be intimidating for individuals that may not venture out too much with color. But every one of these shadows can be paired with something neutral to just add a pop of color. If you have been following me for awhile you know that a color crease of color lower lash line are favorite areas of mine to add a color.

Be sure to sign up for the Brija newsletter and/or join the private FB group Brija Cosmetics Chat for news on upcoming boxes. The price for the box is $35 and this first one sold out, so be sure to check back in May for the purchase date. Right now the are set to release in June, September, and December for this year. Follow my IG for #eotd details using this box and other Brija products.

Etsy Update: Ready for spring and looking for some accessories?? I have a ton of flower/floral earrings in the shop. Check out HGHobbyShop.

Brazen FwB Is BACK- January 2016 FwB: Giveaway Ending 3/18/2016

I CANNOT even express how much I have missed blogging. Life got SUPER busy, as it always seems to. But fear not, I have an awesome post coming your way right now..

Brazen Cosmetics has relaunched their monthly subscription cleverly titled Friends With Benefits, or FwB. So once the announcement was made, I hopped right on to signing back up. I was with the initial run of the subscription from start to finish.

A little about the program: It runs $10 a month plus shipping and for a US resident like myself, that is about $3.50. With the sub you get 10% off the Brazen store and a raffle ticket for giveaways.

January's sub featured five shadows and a lip gloss mini/sample.

January 2016 FwB

*The following swatches were done over Brija's Eye Wax.*

Confidence = Sexy

A-Game

  • Confidence = Sexy: shimmery fuchsia leaning pink that is extremely metallic when foiled
  • A-Game: taupe-pink with silver extreme shimmer

L to R: A-Game and Confidence = Sexy

Psyched

Incite

Mesmerizing

  • Psyched: gray base with gold sparkle
  • Incite:tarnished gold; golden brown with gold shimmer
  • Mesmorizing: deep navy blue with matching shimmer

L to R: Psyched and Incite

Mesmorizing

L to R: Psyched, Incite, A-Game, Confidence=Sexy, and Mesmorizing

I don't have a lip swatch of the lip gloss included. I had a gnarly allergic reaction to something I put on my lips. This happens from time to time and it sucks. However, I did go ahead and get a little arm swatch of the beauty. I have used Brazen's formula before and can say it is amazing. Colors are opaque and smell amazing! I think of all the indies I have tried, Brazen has the best smelling lip products.

Resolutions

  • Resolutions: opaque grape purple

Resolutions on bare skin

It has been awhile since I have done a little bit of a review but I always include photos of the products in action. I quite enjoyed playing around with these!

Crease - Incite

Lid - A-Game

Lower Lash Line - Confidence = Sexy

Crease - Mesmorizing

Lid - Psyched

Lower Lash Line - Mesmorizing

I absolutely LOVE the colors this month. If I had to chose a stand out or two, it would definitely be A-Game and Psyched. Psyched is my personal favorite, bc it is quite unique. I look forward to finally put on the lip gloss.

SOOOO because Sandi is awesome I have an extra set of this month's sub up for grabs. I think Brazen is an indie that doesn't get the love it deserves. I think for this giveaway I would love to hear what other indies you love in the comments. I love exploring new brands and always looking to try out some new companies. Giveaway will open today, 2/24/2016, and will end 3/18/2015. BONUS entry if you share my post on Instagram, just leave your IG account name with your comment. I think everyone needs to know about the return of this awesome monthly sub!

If you you plan to try out the FwB sub I would love if you used my referral link. This also works if you just want to grab a few items from the shop.

On an unrelated note, I have my Etsy shop back up and running. Feel free to look around at the new jewelry dishes I have now. I get a lot of color inspiration from the things I create.

I hope you enjoyed this first post in 2016! Also a good reminder of how much I am slacking on the blogging end! I have tons of things swatched so should see new things more often now!
